One-year-old Ava Jolie Mayeux is not just any Louisiana toddler.

The Gonzales native has been a vampire baby eyed by millions of people all over the globe.

Ava was hired as an extra to appear in the box-office smash, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1,” which was filmed partly in Baton Rouge in 2010.

But Ava was no ordinary extra.

The film’s main character Bella Swan, played by actress Kristin Stewart, becomes pregnant in the film after marrying vampire boyfriend Edward Cullen, played by actor Robert Pattinson.

After Swan gives birth to the baby, there is a scene near the end of the film where Swan’s trusted friend Rosalie, played by actress Nikki Reed, holds the infant.

That was Ava’s big close-up.

Or at least, as her mother Christina James said, her big profile.

“You can definitely see it’s her in the scene,” James said.

Ava was not just new to the world of big budget Hollywood movies. She was new to the world. Ava was 3 weeks old when the filmmakers shot her scenes as Renesmee Cullen in Baton Rouge in December 2010, James said.

Ava almost did not make it onto the big screen.

Her mother said she initially did not want to apply online for her daughter to become an extra in the film and felt uncomfortable sending in photos of Ava to the casting officials.

However, James’ friend, Jennifer Lemons of Baton Rouge, kept pushing her to apply and send Ava’s pictures to the casting officials.

Lemons works for Active Entertainment LLC at Celtic Media Studio, where the Baton Rouge filming took place, she said.

“I wound up sending Ava’s pictures in just to see if they would even respond,” said James, a 19-year-old freshman at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. The casting agents emailed back the next day saying they wanted to hire Ava, her mother said.

“I was shocked; then I started to get excited,” James said.

Ava was involved in one day of filming in Baton Rouge from noon to 6 p.m., her mother said.

Ava, her mother and great-grandmother, Sandra James, were all on the set that day in December.

Sandra James said the family was treated like royalty.

“Everything was perfect. It was cold at the time of filming but they always had a warm van waiting for Ava if she needed to be taken somewhere,” Sandra James said.

The Ascension Parish women met and briefly talked to the film’s director, Bill Condon. They also met Reed, who held Ava in the film.

“She (Nikki Reed) came into a trailer with us to talk. She was very nice,” Christina James said.

Reed told the women she wanted to spend some time with Ava before shooting the scenes to bond and make sure the actress and the baby were comfortable with each other, Sandra James said.

“I think they bonded right away. She (Reed) looked like she had held babies before and looked very comfortable,” Sandra James said.

Reed told E! Online reporters Ted Casablanca and John Boone in November that the real baby she worked with on the film was ‘great” and “didn’t cry much.”

Reed told E! Online she also had to work with rubber and mechanical babies in some scenes in the film.

‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1′ DvD Goes on Sale In February!

Thanks to an entertainment distributor, today we’re learning more details about The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1′s DVD/Blu-ray release.
It will be hitting store shelves earlier than thought, and special Valentine’s Day-packaging is in the works.
Saturday, February 11th, 2012 is the release date for the United States. Word is that the official announcement will be coming January 3rd!

For months we were help in suspense waiting to find out what the Twilight wedding dress would look like – and we’ve finally seen the dress, and can now even buy the Alfred Angelo replica. But what was it like to land the coveted role of designing The Dress? And what was it like working with Kristen Stewart?
“In the initial fitting when Kristen put the dress on and looked in the mirror, she was very moved,” Carolina Herrera told Vogue in an interview. “In that moment she was not an actress or a character in a film, she was a bride, and a happy one at that. It is always very important to make the bride happy, of course, and in this case I was delighted to do so. It was a very special moment for both Kristen and the character of Bella to share.”
“I was of course inspired by Stephenie’s description of the gown in the book, but I added the touch of Herrera and also took into consideration the personality and the style of the bride,” said Herrera. “A wedding dress is both an intimate and personal for a woman – it must reflect the personality and style of the bride. Bella’s dress is romantic and filled with a timeless sophistication, very similar to the character. In a way, this dress served as a symbol of the character’s coming of age and introduction into womanhood.”
“It is always a unique process to design a wedding because every bride is different; the dress always has to be special because it is the most important day in the life of a woman. I tried doing that with this dress, but this one of course is totally different because at the end it’s a film – a cultural phenomenon. Millions of people are going to watch and it had to be precise.”
Herrera is known for her feminine classic wedding gowns and designed Renee Zellweger and Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks’ gowns.
The Twilight gown – a handmade demure, floor-length style with a Bardot neckline and short train – is available to buy from Herrera boutiques in New York, Los Angeles, Bal Harbour and Dallas from January 2012.

Are you happy to say goodbye to Twilight? And what has its impact been on our culture?
I guess I’m happy to move on, but it was nice to have good closure. I found Edward quite a restrictive character but in Breaking Dawn he kind of loosens up about everything. I mean, it’s almost impossible not to when you’re delivering babies and, you know, Bella is dying and all this stuff is happening. You can’t play it the same, and that was nice. It was nice to have arguments and things as Edward, which seemed very unusual. But um, what’s its contribution to the culture? Well one of the main things, which obviously the books did but the movies helped, was just getting young people reading again. Harry Potter started this thing, but anything which gets kids reading, it helps. As soon as you start reading one series then you start reading a bunch of other stuff. Just in terms of the film industry as well, I think Twilight showed that you can have a female audience for something and it does well.

What about its perception of romance?
I think it’s a fairly traditional romance. I have never understood the fascination with vampires though. I mean, people are obsessed and I don’t know why. I know the history of it; I find it interesting to think there are true stories of things in, say, Romania. I like all the conspiracy theory aspects of it, but I guess when doing Twilight that is why all the vampire people hate us, because we didn’t have fangs, don’t get burnt in the sunlight or anything. I didn’t really have to do any research about vampires.

How was it shooting the films back to back? Was there a different kind of feel to it doing two movies?
Yeah, it felt like a long time when we were shooting it. Also, at the beginning we were a lot less stressed than we were before. It became stressful later, when we suddenly realized we were basically shooting these two films. It became even more work in the end than normal, but for the first couple of months it was like “Eh, we got 8 months! This is easy!”.

So it turned out to be rather a lot?
It’s a lot! Especially when you are splitting them up, so you’re playing scenes from like 260 pages [apart]. Sometimes we would switch between the two movies during one day, and it’s a completely different mentality from the first one to the second one. So it was kind of complicated.

You become a father in this film. Did you discover any paternal instincts? Do you get on well with kids.
Only some kids! If it’s an annoying kid, I don’t get on with them. But I like babies, I like doing the scenes with babies. There were quite a lot of them as well, so that was fun. It’s just so different from a Twilight movie, because the main problem with stage the scenes is, because we are all vampires we don’t do anything, you don’t fidget, you don’t put your hands in your pockets, you never do anything! You have nothing to do all day, so it’s very difficult to think, “How do I do this scene without just standing here?” And as soon as you have a baby involved, you have to respond. Everyone suddenly just breaks all of their standards.

Did you ask for advice of how to act like a dad?
With a baby I think it’s pretty instinctive. I mean, everybody looks freaked out, especially guys. And all woman immediately are like “Ooo, we know exactly what to do” and guys think they are going to break it all the time.

Did it make you feel more grown up?
Yeah, definitely! Having the wedding ring on and having like a baby, you’re like, “Jesus Christ! 40 already!”

Did you goof up on set?
I’m almost certain I did. There is a bunch of ridiculous stuff: in any kind of fantasy movie you end up looking ridiculous so much of the time, especially doing fight scenes when you’re not actually doing a fight scene, because it is PG-13 and because they don’t have like fights, they are all trying to pull each other’s heads off!

Is there something you did like about Edward?
I thought he was great. The annoying thing about him is that that the fans’ perception of him is that he’s this perfect guy, but whenever I read the books, he doesn’t seem like the perfect guy at all. I wanted to play his flaws, but then you have this subliminal idea coming from everywhere saying: “No, he’s got to be perfect!” but you can’t play perfect! Perfect is someone with loads of flaws, and then you stuck in this funny little loop. But it was interesting playing this one because I really didn’t like a lot of Edward’s actions in Breaking Dawn, and it’s nice to play actions where you think: “Oh, he’s doing the wrong thing.”

Can you give an example of that?
I mean, he is just very selfish at the end and gets ruled by his emotions. His heart is running him instead of his head, which is the opposite of all the other movies. He’s always trying to plan ahead, but he becomes much more impulsive and doesn’t feel permanently guilty. He feels like he has been wronged when he hasn’t been wronged at all.

What part of you is like Edward and what part of you is most unlike Edward?
I always feel guilty about everything; that’s quite similar to Edward. And, I don’t know, he always thinks he’s doing the right thing, he always thinks he knows what is going on and I never feel like I know what is going on or doing the right thing!

I fell completely in Love with this song when it was played in Twilight for Prom. And now it will be hopefully the song Bella walks down the Isle to. I can see that and it would be Absolutely Amazing. Hitting the next stop on their Euro press tour, Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone were side-by-side at the 6th International Rome Film Festival in Rome, Italy on Sunday (October 30).

The “Twilight" costars posed side-by-side during the "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" photocall while also taking the stage for a press conference and changing up outfits for a visit to the Auditorium Parco Della Musica's Lancia Cafe.

During the course of their Rome Q&A session, Miss Reed and Mr Rathbone reminisced on the first time in which they met one another, as Rathbone recalled, "I remember the first time we met, we were at the airport heading to the film's set. I had my beloved guitar and the agent at check-in did not want me to carry it on the plane, but for me it was really important. Nikki was there and convinced them let me carry it aboard [the aircraft]. From day one, Nikki was on my side."

Looking at Jackson during the tender and heartfelt moment, Nikki said, "You are wonderful," to which Jackson replied, "You are a beautiful person."

Along with their overseas duties, both Jackson and Nikki will be along for the ride for the upcoming “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1” musical tour coming up next month.

Musicians from the Breaking Dawn soundtrack will tour the country to perform the songs from the film’s soundtrack, with cast members also making appearances along the way.

Kristen Stewart graces the December cover of GLAMOUR magazine and, in our exclusive interview, she talks about the much-anticipated Breaking Dawn sex scene. “It was so weird, it didn’t even feel like we were doing a Twilight film. I was like, ‘Bella! What are you doing? Wow! What is happening here?!’ It was very surreal. We [originally] got rated R. They recut it.”

The actress also reveals there was extra security while the Breaking Dawn wedding scene was filmed: “I had to be shrouded in secrecy the entire two days of filming… it was crazy… I was on full lockdown, as if I was wearing millions of dollars’ worth of diamonds.”

Kristen Stewart admits she tried to get in shape ahead of Breaking Dawn, in which she has to wear a bikini. “Usually we all make fun of Taylor [Lautner] for working out so often, and then suddenly me and Rob were like ‘Shit” and were running around the block while Taylor laughed at us.”

Kristen Stewart seems to have picked up a few British habits while filming Snow White And The Huntsman here. “I love beans on toast,” she says.

The actress also touches on her alleged relationship with co-star Robert Pattinson. “It’s funny when this question comes up, because I sort of feel like, I don’t really care! People can say whatever they want…. [The interest] is totally understandable, but when it’s personal to you, it’s like your life becomes a product and I’m repelled by that. Robert Pattinson: Kristen Stewart and I May Already Be Married!

“The wedding scene’s funny because we used a real priest. So technically we are already married because he did all the things you would do in a normal ceremony,” Pattinson, 25, joked during a press conference in Stockholm, Sweden Friday. “So we don’t have a civil union in law, but I guess in the church we are actually married.”

The comment was surprising, given that Stewart, 21, only recently (and accidentally) confirmed her years-long relationship with Pattinson during an interview with British GQ.

Pattinson, who was joined by costar AshleyGreene at the press conference, also spoke candidly about the film’s bed-breaking, pillow-biting honeymoon romp.

“The sex scenes were difficult. The set was crazy and you have about 20 people in the room and someone saying things like: ‘No, Bella would not have made that noise. Can we do it again?’”

“It was very charged, but a very tender and sentimental scene. It’s not a scene from the book, so everyone was nervous about doing it right,” he explained. “A ton of other people were nervous. And, Kristen and I were both worried about the shape of our bodies would look on camera. We felt vulnerable.”

Pattinson added that he likes how Stewart’s character “is the one who initiates the sex. It’s a different move and I like that it’s not so predictable. Bella is already pushing for it in the movie and it’s Edward that seems scared.”

“I’ve never been able to relate to that fear of sex or sexuality. It’s funny that all three movies portray sex as something scary and then, when they have sex in the fourth movie, they have a child with really rather devastating consequences,” he said. “I’m not sure what they are trying to say. . .never have sex with anyone ever?”

It feels very good to see Kristen Stewart again. I’ve missed her. We’re meeting at the little mews house where I’m living for the summer, about an hour outside London. Kristen seems relaxed and happy; she looks fantastic—not unusual for her—and better rested than the last time I saw her, at the end of the interminable two-movie shoot that dominated our lives for the past year. You may know me as the author of the Twilight series, but I’m also a producer of the movies, so Kristen and I have gotten to know each other very well while filming during the past three years. Now the series is close to being over, with Breaking Dawn in theaters this month and Breaking Dawn Part 2 coming out next fall.

Today she’s in her usual jeans and a T-shirt, Chuck Taylors and a ponytail. Without any makeup, her skin is noticeably luminous. Her hair is dark, glossy and very long. I comment on the length, mentally counting the months since I’ve seen her; it’s been less than four. Kristen laughs: The hair is not all hers. It’s in place for her next movie, Snow White and the Huntsman.

We talk and talk, and as we speak, Kristen curls her legs under her, never entirely at rest, leaning forward when she’s enthusiastic. She’s animated and passionate about any project she believes in, yet she’s wary of how she might be perceived. I hope that in this interview something is captured of the Kristen I know, the real girl rather than the movie star.

For the Twihards, however, this final movie is the giant red-button moment, when cruel abstinence gives way to wanton abandonment (ie when Bella and Edward get to do it in a waterfall). First up, there is “the Wedding”; in Breaking Dawn, Kristen’s character Bella Swan finally ties the knot with alpha-vamp Edward. Next, “the Conception”; after one slow-mo, softly-lit night of love-making with her immortal, blood-sucking heart-throb, Bella falls pregnant with their half-human, half-vampire, wolf-cub child thing.

I’m sure lots of people shy away from this question as they want to make sure they look 100 per cent appreciative all the time and that everything is the most amazing thing always … But at the end of the line, people are f#$!ing crazy! I would have been very happy just working from job to job, paying my rent one movie at a time. I never wanted to be this famous. I never imagined this life for myself.”

On her role in the indie film Safety of Objects: “I got Safety … towards the end of that period where I thought I should keep acting. As a little kid, you audition for so many f#$!ing go#$!@mn embarrassing parts — and my words would have been pretty much the same at that age too …”
On roles she didn’t accept:”I would be like, ‘No Way.’ Which is why I never got offered very many of those roles. I would just go through the motions. Even while starting out I took things very seriously; I wasn’t the sort of kid that would do a doll commercial or do a series for Nickelodeon. They asked me to do silly things, and I wasn’t a silly kid.”
On being a rebel: “It’s funny. I picked an old backpack out of the closet the other day, one I used to wear all the time as a teenager. It’s covered with anarchy signs, all these quotes and these metal studs. I was like, ‘Wow, you must have really liked how that looked!’ Despite what people think, I was such a rule follower at school. I loved the whole slacker look, like, ‘Hey, I don’t care, whatever,’ but if I didn’t turn my homework in, I would panic.”
On her role in Panic Room: “It was tough, and the takes were endless, as you’d expect from David. He has a daughter around the same age so that made our relationship a lot easier — he knew how to deal with this. He’s intense, but I didn’t know any different.”
On her role in Speak, which dealt with the very sensitive subject matter of rape: “I was definitely aware of the film’s subject matter,” she says. “And it wasn’t because of anything that had happened in my own life — not at all. I grew up in a happy household.
On her role in Into the Wild: “Those good roles are a testament to the scripts I’ve been given. You would have to be a brick or a piece of wood not to be able to engage with some of that material.”
On not becoming something she’s not despite Hollywood: “I don’t want to discredit people’s individuality, bit I think people are pretty much the same. People are very similar. If you have a good enough imagination then you can feel things that you personally have never done before. That’s acting.”
On telling a magazine at 13 that she was “living a lie”: “I think when I was younger, I was trying very hard to sound unpretentious. At that age, I was so bitterly self-conscious, and so desperate not to sound like a total douche. I don’t feel like that at all now. I think it was something I heard my parents say.”
On her parent’s blue collar upbringing: “My folks have always given me hell for how easy I have it,” “My dad would say stuff like, ‘Oh, just go and sit in your trailer, practice your lines, and go lie for a living.’ It was something I said as a kid. Don’t worry, I have a much more pretentious view of acting nowadays.”

On taking her role in the new Jack Kerouac movie seriously:“It’s a pretty big deal for me,” “Of course, all the actors took the responsibility of bringing such a work to visual fruition incredibly seriously. On her experience with schools: “School became genuinely uncomfortable,”. “I was feeling a little self-conscious about the acting thing with my peers, but also my teachers became a problem. They didn’t want to do the extra work or put packages together so I could keep up while away. They failed me. My teachers failed me. Not one, but all of them. I’m always slightly ashamed, in a way, about what I do. I’m slightly embarrassed as I had such serious ambitions when I was younger, I just never imagined that I would ever have a reason not to go to school. But then this happened.”
On getting fit for Snow White and the Huntsman: “I’ve never worked out before. Now I’m only allowed to eat stuff out of a box. It works. Also, I feel more energized and stronger. It took me a long time to realise that I was a girl as a teenager. At that point I never really believed it. I looked like a boy for a long time. Now, finally, I feel like a woman.”
On filming Snow White and the Hunstman in Gloucestershire and living in a rental in Notting Hill, London: “my boyfriend is English”,
Later she recants a bit:. “I never would have said that if I knew you were going to be interviewing me.”
On her relationship with Robert Pattinson being such a big deal on the internet: “Yeah, I know it is,” “So much of my life is so easily googled. I mean, it’s like, come on guys, it’s so obvious!” “But this subject, I don’t think you realise what a big deal it is for people. Well, it is a big deal. They would be ‘Oh. My. God’ There would also be still a 50/50 split. Some people would still be, ‘See, told you they’re not together.”
“I don’t worry about it at all. It’s just one of those things. I’m selfish. I’m like, ‘That’s mine!’ And I like to keep whatever is mine remaining that way. It’s a funny little game to play and it’s a slippery slope. I always say to myself I’m never going to give anything away because there’s never any point or benefit for me.”
On whether it will get better after the end of Twilight(sad face): “Yeah, maybe. I mean, right now it really is not a nightmare, it’s just one of those things. I guarantee whenever I get married or have a baby, everyone is going to want to know my kid’s name and I’m not going to say it for ages. That’s just the way I want to do it. It’ll come out but it won’t have come from me. They’re going to be really pissed off that I won’t say it and I’m just going to say, ‘No!’ I also have that desire to blurt stuff out, but I’ve learnt I can’t do that. Not when you realize the whole world is listening. That’s why perhaps I look so uncomfortable in interviews at times. I mean, we’ve talked about hiding things and I’ve had to get much more adept at that, sadly. But I’m glad I’m not one of those actresses who is just so ready to open up for everyone.”
Her advice to a younger self:”Genuinely don’t worry about anything quite so much. Don’t beat yourself up about those big scenes that don’t belong to you; things are going to be the way they’re going to be. And the whole interview thing, talking to the world … It wasn’t ways for me at first. Doing this …” “You say things every day that are going to be forever, they are about things in your life that matter the most, you’re caught off guard, you react weirdly, and you feel that people hate you. Sometimes people do hate you.”
On feeling that journalists didn’t like her:”The first time around people were definitely aggressive with me. I know it was a response to my energy. I could feel them thinking, ‘Come on, what is wrong with you — play the Game.’ But I didn’t know how and I didn’t know I had to, nor whether I wanted to. But I wasn’t being defiant, I just wasn’t prepared. And I think people responded to that in a negative way. I was just young and caught off guard. It got people so angry. They think you’re a fraud. ‘She’s just saying she’s young as an excuse: get it together or get out of the business.’ I had people say that to me. How about, er, I’m an actor and I really don’t give a f$!# what you think? How about that?”
On being a badass:”I’m a 21-year-old woman having a beer withGQ. I’ve arrived.”

Helping to Spread the Word About Fundraiser for Shy Wolf Sanctuary

I’d like to ask for your help to spread the word about Twilight Fans for Shy Wolves, a campaign to benefit the Shy Wolf Sanctuary in Naples, FL. We are not only trying to raise money for the sanctuary, which is home to over 30 wolves and wolf dogs as well as several other exotic animals, but we are also trying to educate fans and others about wolves. The sanctuary is run only by donations and volunteers. We will be doing a public event in Ft.Myers, FL as well as an online auction.
The Shy Wolf Sanctuary is a non-profit organization for abused and neglected wolves and wolf dogs. It is also home to several other exotic animals. Their goal is to create a safe haven for all of these animals and to help educate the public.

Breaking Dawn Special Effects Deets Spilled by the Tippet Crew - Bella's birth scene and CGI weight loss!

...for all you Twilight fans, I was able to ask Tippett and Rosengrant about their involvement in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

While Tippett talked about working with director Bill Condon and how the film has over a thousand visual effects, Rosengrant talked about the Bella birth sequence and how they combined makeup effects on Kristen Stewart with CGI to make her look extra thin. Also, they’re using a “little bit of puppets and some hybrid effects. Hopefully we bring a realism to that sequence.”

Robert Pattinson plays an old vampire in Twilight, so it makes sense that he likes old furniture, right?
OK, maybe not.
But we did just get word that R. Patz spent a nice chunk of time yesterday shopping at one of L.A.'s most popular vintage stores.

What did he buy? Read on to find out...

Pattinson and a pal spent more than two hours sifting through the items at T.I.N.I., a two-year-old store just steps away from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
He spent almost $550 total on a small green distressed wood bench, an industrial gray desk lamp and a really cool metal pipe floor lamp, according to a source.
And no, Mr. Pattinson didn't mention Kristen Stewart while he browsed and shopped, but the source did say that Rob mentioned that the purchases were for his L.A. area home.
"He took a couple of photos with some other shoppers," the source said. "He was very nice."
